Employees of St. Julian’s Tipico came together on 21st of October for the company’s annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Day, joining forces with local environmental NGO Coast is Clear to clean up 86 bags of litter (715 kg) along the Victoria Lines trail in Mosta and to plant 254 trees at Ta’ Qali.

The CSR initiative aims to make a lasting contribution to Malta’s environment, with Tipico committing to the continued care and maintenance of the planted trees.

A greener and cleaner Malta for future generations

Trees play a particularly important role in Malta, where limited green space, dense urban development and hot summers make vegetation essential for a healthier environment. Trees improve air quality and create habitats for birds, insects, and other wildlife. They also help protect soil and support local biodiversity.

With the planting of 254 trees at Ta’ Qali, among which a mature olive tree and mature cypresses, along with 250 younger trees. Tipico aims to contribute to these long-term environmental benefits for our local community, pledging to maintain the newly planted trees and support planting efforts in the coming years.

Littering also has a deep impact on wildlife, ecosystems, and the quality of public spaces. Tipico employees managed to collect 86 bags of trash and bulky garbage (715 kg in total) during the clean-up in Gnien Gharusa in Mosta, hoping to inspire awareness and future prevention.

Joining forces for awareness and lasting impact

This CSR Day marked a change: rather than volunteers doing several smaller activities, around 100 Tipico employees joined in to support the work of Maltese NGO Coast is Clear, to concentrate efforts where they can make a lasting difference.

“Initiatives like Tipico’s CSR Day not only make a tangible difference through tree planting and clean-ups but raise awareness of environmental issues and what we can do about them. We hope to inspire people to take action and help create a greener and cleaner future,” said Mark Pace Galea, Founder of the Coast is Clear.
