Tipico Marketing Awards 2016

Four winners awarded with a total of 30,000 euros

Bundesliga Premium Partner Tipico has launched a new prize for clubs of the Austrian Tipico Bundesliga. This award is not directed to the players but rather to the clubs’ management and intends to reward creative projects in the areas of working with fans, media work and corporate social responsibility.

Today, Christian Gruber, Managing Director for Marketing and Communications at Tipico Germany awarded the four selected projects with a sum of 30,000 euros. In total, 18 club projects were submitted and evaluated by a prominent jury consisting of Michael Fiala (Editor 90minuten.at / color of sports), Thomas Jäger (Caritas), Roland Königshofer (Adidas Austria Marketing Manager), Konrad Pöhlmann (Tipico Germany, Head of Marketing), Dieter Scharitzer (Institute of Marketing) and Leo Vogel (CEO of the agency e²).

Bundesliga CEO Christian Ebenbauer, “With the marketing price Tipico has once again proven that it is much more than the competition sponsor of Austria’s top league. The joint development of the product Bundesliga is an important goal of this partnership and the prize money will be used to further expand the football’s position as Austria’s national sport number 1”.

The winner

1st place – € 15.000: Brand relaunch SV Ried
The project is heavily orientated on the basic idea of ​​the award: Brand building and development. The idea to lively integrate the Vikings theme into the club brand’s core lead to an unanimously agreement within the jury to award this project. The almost playful approach using Vikings as a symbol and figure creates a high potential for identification and makes the club externally appear as a consistent and strong unit.

2nd place – € 7000: Apprentice campaign Sturm Graz
This project places special emphasis on winning over the young people from the region to become fans. Young people in an apprenticeship are a heterogeneous target group: Girls and boys from different social backgrounds and roots get commonly addressed by initiative of Sturm Graz. Integration not only happens through passive watching. The joint participation in the business run motivates to become physically active. The project is based on sustainability and also strengthens the educational spirit.

3rd place – € 3,000: Newsroom SCR Altach
The newsroom is an innovative project that accumulates various press and media information and thus eases the access for all stakeholders. Especially in communication it is necessary to provide many multipliers with relevant content as soon as possible. This is guaranteed by the project.

Special Prize – € 5.000: Special Needs football tournament – SK Rapid Vienna
The jury agreed that this project must get special recognition and has therefore decided to award a special prize. The fantastic project of SK Rapid goes far beyond a single initiative: young people with mental and physical impairments can regularly participate in a low threshold football training and experience the positive social potential of football as part of a team. An international tournament is the highlight for which the players prepare themselves in the long term. The common goal unites them. Success but is not measured by goals and wins but by sharing of the experience of football.
