For clean sport
The appeal of sport at the same time serves as the core of the sports betting business model: Nobody should know the outcome of a game in advance. Unfortunately, public debates on betting-related game manipulation often fail to consider that betting providers themselves are the victims of these deceitful actions, as they are forced to pay out the criminally won gains. Protecting the integrity of sport is therefore a joint interest of sport associations and betting providers, meaning that they should work together to exchange information, provide clarification, and offer help. Accordingly, Tipico supports the law for criminal sanctions of betting-related game manipulation.
Tipico supports the Early Warning System (EWS) provided by the international football association FIFA and independently informs associations and event organisers as soon as conspicuous betting behaviour is detected. Tipico focuses on all offered types of sport. The company collaborates with Sportradar’s integrity department, with Betgenius, with the International Olympics Committee (IOC), and has a partnership with the Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU) of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). An internal Integrity Unit meticulously tracks any indicators of potential criminal activity. For this purpose, we work closely together with relevant authorities and security organisations.
Tipico is valued as a reliable partner in the sports world: In Germany, as the official partner of the football Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga, the football team FC Bayern Munich as well as the basketball Bundesliga team FC Bayern Basketball. In Austria, Tipico is also title sponsor of the Tipico Bundesliga.
For evidence-based regulation
As a sports betting provider with integrity, Tipico looks out for the interests of consumers and welcomes clear legal regulations. The licences for conducting betting business and online casino games were granted to the Tipico Group by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). In Germany, Tipico is one of the first providers to have been granted a licence for online sports betting by the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein since May 2012.
Tipico is a member of the Deutscher Sportwettenverband (“German Sports Betting Association”, DSWV), which was founded in 2014 by leading German and European betting providers. The association’s primary concern is to constructively advocate for the further development of the German sports betting regulations, which particularly includes the aspects of player and youth protection as well as addiction prevention.
Tipico is aware of its responsibilities and the risks of the business, and commits itself to the highest standards in order to prevent the risks created through the misuse of our services. Tipico pursues a zero-tolerance policy regarding any type of financial crime and has implemented customer registration processes and transaction monitoring systems that comply with the legal money laundering requirements to protect Tipico from risks and fraud. The company-wide internal stipulations apply for all Tipico employees, are examined annually to make sure they are up to date, and are adjusted to changing circumstances. All employees, both within the franchise network and directly in the company group, are required to take part in and successfully complete relevant courses. In addition, special courses are offered for employees in particularly sensitive work areas.
Our ethical guidelines
Trust, collaboration, and integrity are essential for our company, our business partners, and our shareholders. That is why Tipico has established high standards in an ethics code in order to preserve our business integrity. All our employees are required to adhere to these standards.
We practise the approach that every employee can report any perceived concerns, risks, or misconduct without having to fear sanctions. As part of our Whistleblowing Policy, Tipico has therefore instituted an external, independent ombudsman as a contact for whistleblowers.
