Tipico Germany Head of Marketing Konrad Pöhlmann was member of the jury
The winners of the HORIZONT SPORTBUSINESS Awards 2016 have been announced. Tipico was an event partner at the award ceremony in the premises of the Frankfurter Rudergesellschaft. With Konrad Pöhlmann, Head of Marketing at Tipico Deutschland, the sports betting provider was represented in the HORIZONT jury consisting of players from the German sports business. The judges awarded former Adidas CEO Herbert Hainer, DFL CEO Christian Seifert, electronics retailer Media-Markt and the E-Sports platform ESL.
After 15 years, Herbert Hainer left his office as CEO of Adidas at the end of September 2016 and received the special award for his life work. The reason for the jury: Over his long career, Hainer has shaped the German sports article producer into an economically brilliant big player, which stands for growth, internationality and sustainability.
Already for the third time, Christian Seifert was awarded the title “Player of the Year”. The CEO of the German Football League (DFL) is pushing forward the positioning of the Bundesliga as a premium product, the jurors explained. With the recent auction of national media rights for the Bundesliga, the DFL increased its revenues by 85 percent.
The electronics retailer Media Markt was honored with the award “Sponsor of the Year”. With its sponsorships of 16 clubs from the three top leagues, the company convinces through a strong regional sales focus, explained the jury around Pöhlmann.
The E-Sports platform ESL received the “Medium of the Year” award. The jury of the HORIZONT SPORTBUSINESS Awards 2016 expects that no development will characterize sports business as strongly as E-Sports. With around five million members, the medium is one of the most important drivers of this market.
